Still working

Have not slept in four days! What the hizzle? So tonight is the night I must sleep for tomorrow comes the inspector man...I have been trying to quiet my brain, by painting, and I have a new one to show you guys.

But what I am really here to do is ask, what do you do when your brain will.not.quit! I guess it is all the exciting adventures happening around here, but O snores the night away right away...and I know b/c I am wake to hear him all night.

You guys are the best, I tried the Tylonol PM, and I slept purty good! Woohoo, and the inspection went well too, so lets see what happens.

  1. Ugh, I totally hear you. It happens to me all.the.time! Usually I try reading - sometimes novels, but sometimes my husband's books on theoretical physics (no joke) if I'm really having trouble. Oh, and no computer for at least an hour before bed - that really helps!

  2. Hmm...yeah sometimes my brain is like that too.
It may help to get out of bed, drink some water or milk...do something relaxing (knitting, watching National Geographic, doing the dishes)...and most of the time I really feel sleepy then.

But there are some nights when it just won't happen :)

  3. You guys have such great suggestions, I did the lazy thing, or the desperate thing, and took some pain killers left over from my surgery, it didn't help. I just laid awake, thinking, but I was soooo happy at the same time. I was like, man, I can't sleep, but the world is a wonderful place....

  5. I hate when I have something exciting the next day and I can't sleep. Eventually I fall asleep but I feel as if I am up the whole night. I haven't found a remedy yet.

  7. Tylenol PM is a savior. Whenever work gets crazy or I'm really stressed or excited I can't sleep. These little pills work like a charm. And big bonus...I've never become addicted to them. :o )

  9. I try earplugs (not just cus you mentioned o's snoring). Even John's breathing drives me nuts. And as a mom, my ears are so tuned in to ANY noise in the house. So sometimes, the earplugs just help me block out the extra noise, and keep me from getting distracted by those little noises/annoyances that just serve to get my mind going again!

  11. soooo gorgeous, michelle!

i have no advice on not being able to sleep-- somehow I am able to conk out immediately almost every night, no matter what exciting things are going on or what worries are in my brain. Maybe just keep working until you pass out on your keyboard, or better yet, amidst piles of oil paint? At least it would be a fun (and messy) way to wake up!!

(ps- can't wait for our day o' fun!)

  12. I have the same problem...night after night. I now look like a wacko each night with my earplugs & eye mask and don't forget the fan for masking all the chirps of early morning birds. "Simply Sleep" helps occasionally. It's not a pretty picture!

Good luck ~ with the inspector too :)

  17. Oh my god I love Tylenol PM so much it scares me. I am a super light sleeper, so it's a god-send. Of course I only allow myself to use it maybe once a month because I'm afraid I'll get addicted.

Love your blog btw! Just discovered it after following you over here from your comment. Thank you!

  18. Not being able to sleep is the worst. Sometimes it's helpful to go to a doctor and get an Rx sleep aid like Ambien for times when you're really stressed and not able to sleep. Tylenol PM doesn't work for me, but if it works for you, that's great! Happy zzzz's :)
