New Rug, finally!
This weekend we went to my in laws to celebrate O's birthday, it was yummy, cozy and fun. Their home is beautiful, designed and built by O's dad in the early 80s, on a nice wooded, private piece of land outside of Atlanta. I love going there, and I usually investigate all of the rugs when I do. There are rugs on every floor, some on the walls, even stunning tapestries on the chairs and sofas, it is a textile lover's delight, to put it mildly.
We mentioned that we are looking for a suitable rug for our living room, and they offered us a stunning blue and white silk Persian (not sure if it is actually a Persian, but it looks like it for me, maybe less complex in design.) We came home and put it down right away, and it makes the room feel even cozier.
I love it. And I don't think it's too formal. It's what goes on top of it that counts. And it looks pretty wonderful in that room.
ReplyDeleteOne day soon, I hope to be able to write a post with the same title as yours. For now, I will envy you and the size of your rug.
ReplyDeleteThis room is lovely!! And hehe my dogs do that - sleep on the couch on the top between the cushions.

Love it! I think some navy blue nautical striped curtains on that window would look great!
ReplyDeleteI think it works really well, great shot of the room plus perfectly placed pooch :)
ReplyDeleteI have that red and white zig-zag pillow! It's my fave :)

I love rugs so much I'd consider putting one over my carpet. Okay NO, not really, but yours is all kinds of fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI think it's beautiful and not too formal at all. It's a great mix with your other pieces and I love your gorgeous coffee table! Enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteI think it's beautiful -- what generous in-laws you have!!!
ReplyDeletelooks gorgeous. makes the space seem so cozy.
ReplyDeleteIts definitely not too formal. In fact, the minute I looked at the first image you included in this post, I thought about how relaxing the room must be. The furniture is all neutral colors, so are the window treatments. The rug gives the room a feeling of age and comfort. I seriously love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks ladies!
ReplyDeleteI love it.
ReplyDeleteYou have designed the room beautifully, Michelle! btw...it is a Persian Nain..warp is silk, weft is wool. You can find more about nain carpets and their care at this site: http://www.oldcarpet.com/nain.htm
ReplyDeleteHope you thoroughly enjoy it.
Love Linda
