I guess I am a Smart Creative Women

I met Monica last year at Surtex. I like her vibe. She is a genuine person who really feels good about (and makes you feel good about) helping other creative women, and she has a really cool blog.

See the interview here.

I have never been able to figure out how to upload a video to this darned blog. So there you have it.

Try not to be scared looking at my enormous mouth and giant teeth, it kinda feels like I am going to eat your face...

Update: The harmless comment about my mouth is just a joke. All jokes have a grain of truth in them. Also true (who would deny that mouth is big! No one!) But I have been reminded by you ladies that I shouldn't apologize for myself. Always appreciate being reminded about important things like that cuz not only is it true but I do it too! I am pissed that I count myself among the lady apologizes (I apologized about my mouth, get it?) So to clarify my previous pre apology I offer this post apology clarification apology statement : Glory in the Magesty that is The Mouth! Teller of truths! Kisser of husbands! Eater of steak! Teller of self depreciating jokes! Bow to the lipsticked maker of sound effects!

  5. Michelle, I was excited to see you had an interview where I could "pick your brain", per se, about art, but I didn't watch it all day 'cause something stuck in my craw. But ,tonight, I watched it anyway. After seeing you as a real person, and hearing what you had to say, especially in the last 8 mins or so, I just gotta say it. It really made me sad to read the last sentence of your blog--the one about your teeth and mouth. It's not even just about you personally, but about women apologizing in advance for?? ?? One of the reasons I read your blog is for insight on the business side of art, but only after liking your work as it proves those things can co-exist:) Part of me wants to explain it away, that I don't know you personally, and you are always joking, sometimes at your own expense, but another part of me is like "really, we're talking about Hillary's pantsuits AGAIN?"

    1. Hahaa! This comment made me laugh. I am sorry that you were offended by my mouth comment, but your instinct is right, I was just making a joke. I do have a huge mouth but I really like that about myself (lipstick anyone!) personally I think it's not the same as Hillary's pantsuits bc no one has mentioned anything about the way I look, especially at the expense of my message, plus I am not a powerful representative of woman's rights and American leadership like Hillary. I am just myself in all my goofy, self depreciating, huge grin having self talking about what I love, and I can say what I like about myself, especially if its true, and not mean. Hope that helps your craw a bit ;)

    2. ....but you are right about women pre apologizing! I do it too sometimes and I have got to stop, it's the perfection thing, no perfect? Apologize for it. I get pissed at my friends for that too. Hillary is a good role model for that, she never apologizes for being herself!! Good reminder.

  8. Cool! We're on the same page and I'm glad that made you laugh. At the risk of sounding like I'm apologizing for my comment, I did mean it in the spirit of "psst, you have some spinach in your teeth" and that's all:)
Thanks for sharing your interview! It's evident that you work your hiney off and I tip my hat to you!

If only Seattle was close enough to attend a Southern Creatives meetup!
