I get a few emails a week from people asking me how I started my carear. Mostly people want advice, and they want to know if there is some trick to leaving a steady paycheck for the joys of self employment.
What do I study? How do I grow a client base? How do I stay motivated and how do I make enough money? How do I know when is the right time to leave my job? How long does it take to get noticed and what do I do in the meantime? How do I pick the one thing I am best at? What if I don't know what that is?
So, I will be answering these questions next week and working super hard to give you guys the best advice I can. Like real, no nonsense life advice that has changed my own life's path, and since it seems like you want to know...Sure, I will gladly spill it, even though its kinda embarrassing. You might be surprised at my personal take on these issues.

ReplyDeleteI can't tell you how excited I am that you are going to do this. I wonder about this stuff all the time. Give us the truth. I want to hear it.
ReplyDeleteWell! That will be all good stuff to read. Thank you in advance for being candid about the path you took. Your path isn't going to be congruent to anyone else's -- something important for people to remember -- but the map you used and the notes you took will almost certainly help others in a similar jam.
ReplyDeleteSO excited for your input and your candid thoughts. I'm an artist, just starting out, trying to get things going, so I will be grateful for any tips you have!!!
