Puppy Medicine

I felt sad this weekend. Who didn't? Who can watch the news and not intermittently cry and rage? Its also been gloomy here (cozy though), and my knees hurt so I haven't been able to burn off my emotions with cardio...that cardio is why my knees hurt in the first place. This all adds up to a grumpy Michelle. This morning, after the fourth night in a row of strange nightmarish dreams I woke up around five and couldn't got back to sleep at all.

Coco heard me sniffling and she came over to me and buried her head in my chest so we could cuddle together. She makes herself into a purring, cuddling lovey puppy when I need her. She laid there with me and purred so hard she sounded like she was snoring. Does your dog purr? I fell right to sleep and then I drooled all over her. She didn't seem to mind.

These pictures are from when we first moved into our house. I had to be in bed for a long time b/c I had a herniated disk, and Coco was my willing companion. How is it possible to love an animal so much? I never would believe it to be possible if I didn't know if first hand. Does your pet come to your rescue? Lets be mushy today and forget about how terrible the world can be.

  1. Hi Michelle,
What happened in CT is so awful that it seems strange to me that we're just keeping on with things, going about our business like it never happened. Why aren't we all marching on Washington (or in my case Ottawa) to make something happen? What's to be done?
I have a great dane who purrs. She's a rescue, and the most loving grateful being I've ever come across. I love her like she's my daughter.

  5. I love puppy medicine. And for the record, my dogs all snore. Especially the tiny one. I actually think it's adorable. Unlike my husbands snoring... that's a whole different story. Hehe.

  6. And on a more important note... I am right with you. I'm disgusted that our children aren't better protected. This has happened way to many times and it's just sickening. Very sad.

  7. I need mushy-ness! I feel sad all over. A dog would be great too because they are the BEST when you're down and out. They are so intuitive...and soft...and snuggly. Feel better, Michele. This post sure helped me. x

  8. I am super glad we could all be mushy together! I hugged and snuggled both of my puppies so much yesterday. I don't have kids, or I would be snuggling them and not letting them out of my sight!

  9. My Lord. The hurt of this incident just seems to get worse as it gets closer to Christmas. My eyes well up with tears with every mention of it.
But as for puppies, I will always be grateful for a sweet boxer that we had while my mom was going through some heart problems that no doctor could seem to diagnose. She was having panic attacks often and claims that at three in the morning, when a panic attack would jolt her from her sleep, she would head to the front porch and curl up with our big boxer. He didn't try to talk her down. He simply loved her.
Couldn't we all learn a lesson from our sweet pets?

  10. The depth of LOVE and OBSESSION I have for our dogs is crazy! I swear I'm that kid that hugs them too much and squeezes them too tight. I'll flake on or skip my early morning work-outs but I NEVER skip out on their morning runs to the park. It HAS TO HAPPEN as it makes them so very happy. They actually sit and wait by the door each morning waiting to go. How can you say no to that? You can't!
