Feeling uninspired

Not feeling inspired lately, not just today...but in general. None of my usual remedies are helping! BLERG. What do you do when you feel like this? What inspires you today?

  1. whenever i have those days (or weeks...) i try to get out of the house and do something new. get to a part of town that i haven't visited in a while, set up in a coffee shop and people watch, go to an art gallery, buy a magazine i don't normally pick up... anything that gets me away from the laptop!

  2. I hate when I feel this way...sorry you are there now. Maybe meet up with a girlfriend, see a movie, indulge in a delicious meal, get yourself to a art museum you haven't been to or haven't been to in awhile....

  3. Varying my routine definitely helps. And anything that can cause a really good laugh. A belly laugh! Hope the feeling passes soon.

  4. Relax and take your mind off it? Maybe treat yourself to a mindless day and see if tomorrow is more inspiring.

  5. i usually do something totally unrelated to design/art... then i'll notice after a day or two, i feel inspired again. best thing to do is just step away for a bit... give your mind a rest... cooking helps me too :).

  6. I'm in a similar place, Michelle...

I 2nd what c+k said about changing up your scenery :: get out of your normal space - even if it's sitting somewhere different than your desk at your office, or taking a different route home...

just putting some new visuals in front of you can help...

now I'm gonna go try and take my own advice! ;)

  7. I have a killer cold right now and I have found that my best ideas come when I don't actually feel like carrying them out. So, I agree with Rachel. Take a rest. Decide to do nothing and you will end up wanting to do something.

  9. Treat yourself to some little something you've been wanting to do for a while. Explore.

  10. i watch a movie i've been wanting to watch for a long time, pick up one of my many half-made projects, or talk to a girlfriend for encouragement. I always feel like one of those always helps.

thanks for stopping by! and don't worry, everyone has one of those days!

  11. Sometimes I do what others have suggested to shake myself out of it, but sometimes I wallow in it and let the feeling take over, knowing that I will get out of the uninspired rut one day. Either way, plenty of sleep, lots of water, and getting fresh air all work wonders for me. Thinking of you, friend.

  12. Oh I know the feeling.

For the moment it´s old black and white photographs and magazines from the 50´s that gives me the most inspiration.

  13. Could it be the time of year? SOunds like you're not the only one... I was feeling this way last week and am still fightin' it.

Perhaps we should come up with some fabulous collaborative project to get us all back in the swing of things!!!

  14. I know how you feel. Believe it or not, sometime the visual overload of stuff on the web paralyzes me and I just can't get it together. I usually back away from the computer, and go for a walk or drive or SOMEplace out of the house. I come back with a clearer head and things sort of fall in place after that. :)

  15. Art in all forms inspires me. Find a new artist that you love and explore their work

  16. i can't help but feel like there must be some sort of universal post-holiday funk happening, as i literally looked at my husband last night and said..."i'm feeling uninspired, bored even..."

when i was a kid and wasn't feeling inspired my mom always told me to read a book...and it always did the trick.

so i started a new book last night. we'll see what happens.

    good luck friend

  17. I know exactly how you feel!

If I feel uninspired on a busy day where I can't get out of the studio/home I check out my favourite designers on style.com or check out the terrain in the Russia/China area on googe earth.

Cooking a favourite dish, watching a movie, or taking Maggie out for a walk in the park helps too. If all else fails a big hug and snuggle with our pup always seems to do the trick!

Also I try and remind myself when I can that I'm pretty lucky if the worst thing that has happened to me all day is feeling uninspired. It could be worse! :)
